The Merced City Council at its regularly scheduled meeting held on Monday, November 3, 2025, authorized an assessment ballot proceeding to obtain voter approval prior to increasing annual benefit assessment levies to property owners in the Campus North, East College Homes, Fahrens Park I, Hansen Park, Merced Auto Center, Northwood Village, Oakbrook, Oakmont #3, Olivewood, Pleasanton Park, Quail Creek, and Ridgeview Meadows Maintenance Districts.
The Merced City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, to hear testimony regarding the proposed assessment, to accept assessment ballots and to determine whether there is a majority protest against the proposed assessment. The hearing will be held in conjunction with the normally scheduled Merced City Council meeting, which begin at 6:00 p.m. The meeting (and hearing) will be held at the Civic Center located at 678 West 18th Street in Merced.
Public Works staff will be holding three town hall meetings for property owners from these districts to attend. These meetings will provide an opportunity to ask questions and get more information prior to the ballot submission deadline. The meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held on December 9, 2025, at Rivera Middle School; December 11, 2025, at Chenoweth Elementary School; and January 7, 2026, at Golden Valley High School.
