The City of Merced is preparing an application for the Active Transportation Program (ATP) to develop a citywide Safe Routes to School initiative. This proposed project aims to make it safer and easier for students and families to walk, bike, and roll to school and throughout the community.

As part of this effort, we are assessing school sites and surrounding neighborhoods across the city to identify potential improvements such as sidewalk infill, enhanced crosswalks, ADA-accessible ramps, flashing beacons, and other safety features. The goal is to close connectivity gaps and improve safety for all residents.

Community input is a critical part of this process. Your feedback will help shape the project priorities and strengthen the City’s grant application. We encourage residents, students, and families to participate in upcoming outreach meetings and share their ideas.
